Song Kol
A high mountain lake ringed by summer pastures, where families of herders set up yurts.

Song Kol sits high in the Tian Shan, around 3,000 m above sea level. In summer the surrounding pastures, called jailoo, fill with herds of horses and sheep, and yurt camps open for guests.
It is a place for slow days: horse riding along the shore, tea in a yurt, and a night sky with almost no light around. The road in crosses a mountain pass, so the trip is part of the experience.
